My boat has the above-referenced I/O motor and when I turned the key off after taking it out for a cruise, it sputtered and sort of backfired before shutting down (not what it usually does). A couple days later, when I went to use it again it now sounds like a diesel engine, or a tugboat or something - kind of like one cylinder isn't firing? It starts, but not quite a quickly as it did before, and it does run and drive relatively fine (although you can tell it's not getting the power it should).
This happened suddenly - one day it ran fine, then it backfired when shutting down, and now it's acting strangely. What do you think could be causing this? I popped out the spark plugs and they look nice and gray and newish. Other than that I'm not sure what to check next.
