New here and to mercs im used to Yamaha. So i bought this motor at a garage sale for cheap with the intended purpose to get it running and sell it. The guy bets me 2000 dollars that it didn't have anymore than 20 hours on it but there's no way to prove it. So i brought it home and cleaned the carbs, of course the top carb with the nipple on it was broke, seems impossible to find a nipple jet for lack of better terms(anyone with a spare ill buy it from ya). I found a normal jet without a nipple to see if i could get it to start until i could find the proper one. Well i tried no spark. 0v all coil packs. Tested the stator, 5.82 k ohms on blue & blue white. 94.7 ohms Red & red white. no reading on Blue & ground and red & ground, yellow & yellow had .2 ohms. The red & red white is out of spec (56-76ohms) but not much and yellow and yellow is supposed to be .5 to 1.0 ohms. is this enough to not throw spark or is it the switchbox. my manual doesnt say how to test switch box just to replace it if the stator tests okay. Any ideas? thanks guys!

Will be cheap and easy to eliminate the trigger, coils and plug wires.
There was no spark on any of the plugs?
You can also check this forum for awesome procedures to check all the above.

I went to the local boat junk yard and pulled off a Switch box. put it in and she has spark now. Thanks! got a couple other questions but not for this thread.
