1995 Mariner 40

can this be fixed, bought the boat last year took it out about 4 times
last time out it wouldn't start when i was coming in.when i got back to shore it started but ran really rough.
when i got home i notice this triangular piece was busted off and there is torn seal

ctrenn,that is the piece that prevents your shift rod from rising up of the shift shaft.
So first question,what did you hit that caused your shift shaft to drive up with such force to break it?
Question 2,Did you check if she shifts through the gears?
It may be possible to get it welded,but he/she is going to have to be good.It will mean stripping everything of the powerhead to access it without melting anything plastic.Good luck
