1995 Johnson J90TLEOR will not start

I was given a boat with this motor on it. I have replaced the Solenoid and put a brand new 800CCA battery in it. As I'm trying to start this motor, it runs the battery down. After trying to start the motor, the starter is hot. Could the starter be bad?

These starters are often burned up.-------They can not tolerate extended cranking.------Slow cranking also means " no spark " in many cases.
