1995 Evinrude 48 SPL tach wire?

What color is the tach wire on a 1995 Evinrude 48 SPL? My tach papers says it is gray, but I cannot find a unused gray wire. Do I have to go into the control box to dig it out?

Gray is the standard color. Don't know what to say about that motor. May have to open the control, unless there is a plug.

There is a black wire with a white stripe and white wire, with a plug on the end. There are a couple of gray wires, but they hook to switches.

I found the answer. This control box, has a female plug under the key. You have to buy a harness with plug, and it has all the wires that hooks to the tach. Amazon has it for $40 with shipping, or you can get it here for $36 with shipping.
