1995 evinrude 150 just quits

" I have an 1995 evinrude that just quits sometimes. No spark at all i have removed
the connector at the pwr pack that has the stop sw. in it. black/yellow leads. still
will not start. Move trim and tilt up and down sometime this will fix it and some
times just wait, this problem is very frustating never know what fix's it. after it
starts up again motor may run for weeks before it happens again. Help! "

"Bclifft.... Check the stator that is located under the flywheel.

The small coils on the stator will pertain to the battery charging system. The larger coils supply voltage (approx 300v AC) to the powerpack(s). If those coils are cracked, melting down, oozing a sticky substance from them, a voltage drop to the powerpack will occur.

This would result in weak or no spark. I've seen many cracked failing stators that when cold, would deliver perfect ignition (spark) but as the engine warmed up, and the stator got hot, the ignition failed. This may not be your problem, but it's worth looking into.
