"I found the linkage disconnected from the timing plate, beneath the flywheel to the throttle/shift mechanism on the engine. I reconnected it, however, do not wish to run the engine because I believe it may affect the timing. Is there an adjustment on the rod upon installation.?"

It should be back to factory original setting and there is no need to adjust.

"Thank you Ikia. The stainless rod, which was disconnected, is threaded about two inches on the forward end where it inserts into the fork of the throttle mechanism. Can I simply adjust the threads for optimum speed, with no timing worries?"
