I have a 1995 70hp johnson, it had the VRO fuel pump on it when i purchased it but it was setup so i had to premix the gas, because for whatever reason the previous owner chamged it. Anyways the fuel pump quit on me, so i went to a marine shop and said i wanted a pulse fuel pump for it since i was premixing the gas. I purchased it, installed it. My problem i have with it is i now have to choke the motor more to get the boat going, if i start the boat and give it a lot of throttle right away it will want to stall which with the vro fuel pump it would go just fine without stalling until the pump died on me. My question is, is this normal to have to give it more choke/ prime it more with the pulse fuel pump on it? Or did i possibly do something wrong while hooking it up or what?

The primer unit needs pressurized fuel in order for it to work.-------Start with this simple test.--------Have an assistant operate the manual pump during starting and see if it improves.----------Post your results and we see what you might want to do next.
