"Took the boat out for the sec
"Took the boat out for the second time this season (the first was a 15 minute ride to its mooring). Ran fine on the way out for 45+ minutes. When we left to come back, she started up fine but as soon as we went to open her up she started to spudder and backfire .... backed off the throttle and it would idle (though it did stall a few times). After limping along at idle and repeating this scenario several times (sputttering and backfiring) we shut her down, took off distributor cap and everything looked to be in order, moved a couple of wires, put it back together and she started and ran fine the whole way home. Gas doesn't seem to be an issue - so were down to electrical. Replaced coil about 30 - 40 hours as well as the cap, rotor and some other piece inside it (forgot the name but it was worn out). We did have a similar problem last year that seemed to go away when we replaced the distributor parts.
thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike"
