Hi,

I have recently purchased this outboard and it was idling quiet high.

I adjusted it to a lower idle and it seems to miss a beat every few seconds then sort of... Catch back up and shakes the whole motor. So I adjusted it back to a higher idle and I think it's wrong as it drops into gear quiet hard.

Also I have just taken the motor out for a spin, at around 70% throttle it starts to hunt like it's not in the water correctly but it's at the lowest trim and I tried it at a few different trim levels and it didn't make a difference. It almost sounds like a rev limiter in a car.

Could this be something to do with the idle adjustment I made?

Even though I adjusted it to a high idle when it went into forward gear and stayed at the lowest forward I could set it, it revved right down and stalled.

Thanks for your help

That high idle might be hiding another issue. Start with a compression test, followed with an open air gap test and finally fuel diagnostics in that order. post results.
