1995 25 hp Evinrude Not Cooling

Motor was not discharging from

Motor was not discharging from tell tale so I bought a impeller kit. Took the old one out but it didn't look bad but replaced it anyway. Still no discharge. When I started it for the first time this year it tried but stopped. Motor hasn't been used for some time but starts and runs fine. Not sure where to go from here?
Appreciate any help. Thanks!
 
what water source are you usin

what water source are you using to test your motor? The rubber muffs that hook to your garden hose can sometimes be a problem. I went through the same situation. Then I tried the motor in a barrel of water and it worked great. So I got myself a new set of muffs and works great>
 
Tell-tales can get plugged up.

Tell-tales can get plugged up. Try the extension from a WD-40 can and see if it is plugged.

I used a barrel of water just for that reason and also took the tell tale tube off at the head and blew air through it. Still no flow. Thanks!

"If it were mine, I would remove the lower unit and connect the hose directly to the line that the water pump connects to. (you will need to rig something up using fuel line, or other tubing) Try it again. Let us know what results."

"If the grommet is squized at the top of the tube I have sometimes been succesfull using a 'curtain spiral' on a battery drill to grind it open, but be careful! Have saved me removing the power head in mid season, but done it later during winter storage!"
