Troubleshooting, no spark either cyl. Disconnected the blk/yel kill wire from switch box, no spark. Suspect either the ignition stator coil (resistance readings between red & blk wires 128 ohms, no continuity between blue & blk or red & blue, or any of the wires to ground) or switch box. Trigger coil resistance OK? ( 690 ohms between brn/yel & brn/wht wires) Ignition secondary coils seem fine. Any troubleshooting tips to narrow problem to either ignition stator or switch box. With a convention multimeter can voltage be checked at ignition coil primary wires (grn/wht & grn/yel)? Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm leaning toward the low-speed coil on ign stator. Got a hold of a clymer manual from the library, states that resistance should be 3200-3800 ohms. Was able to check low speed coil resistance on a neighbor's 20 hp & it was in that range where as the 25 hp I'm working on showed resistance of infinity or open. Having the dva adapater or peak reading voltmeter would sure help, having the proper tools is the way to go.

Haven't had a chance to take another look at motor yet. However the CDI troubleshooting page mentioned pulling the yellow wire from the stator at rectifier and checking voltage, if none replace to get spark. In my estimation, the yellow wire is for the 12v charging system, separate from the ignition system and would have no bearing on ignition system.

Buddy finally purchased the ignition stator charge coil unit. About 3.2K ohms between blue and black wires. Installed part, reassembled and motor started on first crank. Believe the part number was
86617A14. Planning on going fishing this saturday, thanks for the replies.
