1995 225 hp efi gas getting into oil

I opened up my oil reservoir on the motor and found that it was gasy and fairly thin. How is this possible?

There is a little 2 psi check valve which is there to prevent gas from entering the oil system (where the oil feeds the fuel line).

It sounds like yours is toasted...
