1995 200HP mercury XRI EFI

1 have recently purchased A 1995 200 XRI EFI mercury should the water pump shoot water as soon as it cranks or after the thermosats open up.

Your "tell tale" is fed (after) the thermostats, so they will need to be open before it starts to "pee"

Thanks for answering my question about 200 hp mercury.How long does it usaully take for the thermostats to open any idea.

Kinda depends on how cold the engine is, how cold the water is and what rpm the motor is running at (how quickly it heats itself up).

If your thermostats are OEM they are set to open at 143 degrees, so could take anywhere from a few seconds on a very hot day upto maybe a minute if you have it in the water when ice is starting to form...

if you use earmuffs it take some time 5min. put if you take it to open water it take less time like a 1 min. to 2min.
