1995 130 hp yamaha outboard engine

Hi need some help with my 1995 130 hp outboard yamaha engine. My propeller went bad didnt know @ first it was the prop. I took off the lower unit to see, all looked fine then checked the prop and saw it was bad. I replaced the prop and also the housng for the impeller. I aligned everythng and mounted the lower unit back into place. Once i did so and tightened the bolts the throttle handle was hard to shift into gear. I loosened the bolts again and when i opened up the lower unit abit the throttle shift would then shift with no problem. I removed and installed several times with the same results. What can be the problem? What led to this problem was while driving the engine screamed loud and the boat was going no where. With the lower unit off transmition is shifting into forward neuteral and reverse fine so i see thats working fine but once i put it all back into place i cant hardly move the throttle handle into forward and reverse is not budging @ all. Please help. Thank you.
