"Some one please help me!!!!!, before I spend a lot of money to have a mechanic tell me some bad news, could this problem be a bad head gasket problem, some routine engine work, or am I looking at a major motor malfunction, and have to replace the power head/motor.
These issues only started after a fishing trip and there were not other problems like this before.
I have a 1995 115hp evinrude outboard motor. I have been having problems with performance issues; motor would not exceed 2500 rpms and would not get speed. You could tell by listening to the motor that the motor was only firing on two cylinders.
I was on the water and was having the same issues with the motor, when all of a sudden the motor starting giving the performance that it should have. I was able to reach speeds of 30 mph/ 4500 rpms, for about two minutes, and the motor was running fine, then it started to overheat.
I had difficult starting the motor, so I took out the spark plugs to blow out the cylinders. When I cranked over the engine, I noticed that water was blowing straight out of two of the cylinders. The water was blowing out with good force.
The motor ran on the two other cylinders, and I removed the sparks plugs form the two cylinders, that were blowing water out of them. The motor ran fine; I just did not have any power.
When I got the motor out of the water, I started the motor; you could hear that the motor is firing on all four cylinders. I took the spark plugs out of the two cylinders, that had water shooting out of them, and you could tell that there was fresh carbon fouling on them and the cylinders were firing. Also I started the motor with the spark plugs out, of the two cylinders that were bad, and could see that a good compression of gas/oil mixtures coming out of the cylinders."
