1995 115hp Float Chamber Assy Leaking

High Voltage

I have one carburetor float chamber assembly (bowl) leaking from the side. The bowl above this one has what looks like a resin or rubber seal that covers a hole. This seal is missing on the leaking bowl and gas drips from this hole. How do I repair or replace this seal or what material is it? The leak is coming from the left side of this photo. Thanks!

Picture of the side of your bowl that is leaking will help.--------These plastic bowls are often warped and it becomes difficult to keep them from leaking at the joint.

This is a photo of the carburetor bowl above the one that is leaking. The seal is right in the center and looks like a drop of resin. It covers a hole in the plastic bowl. This is missing on the carb below the one shown and fuel drips from the hole. I cannot easily get a photo of the leaking carb without removing the starboard engine cover. 001.jpg

Well I would remove the float bowl and clean it really good with carb cleaner make sure it is really dry and use some 2part Epoxy that you can buy at your local hardware store to cover the hole just like the one in the picture. Let the Epoxy cure per the manufactures recommendation and reassemble that carb. Or you can whip out your credit card and buy a new fuel bowel.

Somebody damaged the threads in that hole and used epoxy or something else as the fix.----------------------Best bet is a couple of new bowls.

I was wondering about that... This was a rebuilt motor that I bought. It has been on the boat and working for a few years. Thanks Racerone and DocksideMarineServices. Two more questions: 1) What is threaded into that hole (the parts drawing does not show anything)? 2) I have seen reports that the plastic bowl can flex and leak if not tightened correctly. What is the procedure to install the new bowl? Thanks!

That plug is how you get at the high speed jet screwed into the bottom of the bowl.-It also serves as a drain for the float bowl.-------With a new bowl and new gasket you only need to torque those screws to about 10 or 12 INCH LBS which is not very tight.
