have a constant alarm as soon as i turn key....motor fires up immediatley and purs like a kitten minus the alarm. if i unplug the float from the main tank, the alarm goes off. i purchased a new float and installed. boat ran great for a few miles then alarm came back on. if i unplug the float, the alarm goes off....could it be a clogged filten on main tank?

I don't know about this particular model year, but yes, a clogged filter can certainly cause the buzzer to sound. If it's not clogged, I would replace the wiring harness for the float.

Yam gauges? If so what's gauge oil indicator doing? Alarm when turning key to ON position indicates either low oil (in either main tank, reservior, or both) or low volts. Troubleshoot accordingly. If volts and oil levels good, then i reckon the low oil level switch ground is bad.

yamaha gauges yes....can i see them, no. they are old and faded. i can barely see a small triangle over the low oil indicator.both tanks are full of oil. oil level switch??

The switch or along its pathway. Grab a multimeter and drop volt test to locate the bug. It's grounding causing the false positive alarm.
