1994 Mercruiser Magnum 350 Problem

"Engine starts right up and in

"Engine starts right up and in neutral it will run at high rpm. However, when in gear it will only run up to approx. 2000 RPM. After boat warms up and I play with the throttle in neutral (revving up and down), the boat finally will get up to high rpm (4000max) and speed. Any suggestions?"

"What does it do when it reaches 2000 RPMs under load? Does it bog down, Does it labor or does it miss and sputter?

You might have a few restriction or a blocked exhaust passage (like a broken flapper)."

"It doesn't miss or sputter. It just doesn't want to go beyond. I have to run it for awhile above a normal idle under load and then it just starts running great. This is a new problem and just started on my last trip. But it had a slow start, sort of speak, every time I started a new run. Then after running for a while, above the idle under load, it would run good.

You might have bad fuel or clo

You might have bad fuel or clogged filters. Are you running E10 fuel from last season by any chance? Also suspect a possible exhaust restriction.
