"Hello, I'm trying to determine if my cooling system is working. I am told that most outboard motors have a pee hole to visually indicate correct pump operation. I do not see any water coming from a pee hole when it is in the water so I replaced the impeller even though the old one looked fine. Does the 94 model Johnson 88HP Spl have a pee hole and if so where the heck is it located? Thanks!"

look around on the bottom cowl

look around on the bottom cowling for a nipple looking thing usually starboard side

you may want to make sure its

you may want to make sure its not stopped up with a dirtdobber or even take the lid off and make sure the hose is connected

Thanks for responding David.

Thanks for responding David. I looked and there is a hole there but no fittings or anything to shoot the water out. I did see a suspicious 1/8 inch npt brass plug in the engine near that hole. Is it possible that the guy that had the boat before me removed a water line that goes from that fitting to the hole in the cowling?

do you have a water pressure g

do you have a water pressure gauge?

sounds like somebody plugged it.

there was an update on the older models that relocated it to the top of the eng so maybe the newer ones are located at top from factory.

I do not have a water pressure

I do not have a water pressure gauge but I could remove that plug and check the flow. I would like to restore that tube to original. Do you know where to find out what kind of tube it was or where to order it? I guess I could run some kind of rigid tubing to the hole in the cowling if I had to.

"David, Thank you so much. T

"David, Thank you so much. That definately helps. I've been looking for information for days. You saved me a bunch of time and I believe have helped lower my blood pressure. Thanks!

Jeff"
