"I recently bought a boat with a 94 Johnson outboard. Ihave not had it out in the water yet, but decided to test the motor first in a barrel.The motor starts alright but idles fairly rough and I notice a lot of smoke when I rev it up. There is also an oil film around the bottom end of the motor. I phoned every service place I could in my area but they are all booked until late August. Does anyone have any ideas which could help me out. Thanks."

tune up
if it has not set up,say a yr w/out use...take it to lake and see how it does."

Thanks for your input. The boat has sat for over a year without use. I put fresh fuel in and will do the carbs/tune up. Do you think I have to do the Impeller if there is lots of water coming from the pee hole?
