1994 Johnson 50hp m#J50TLERE will not run right

Found stator weak & replaced, cleaned carbs & set jets, checked all wiring, spark plugs are good. Run good 1st time out, not will not idle or run right! What else do i need to look at???
 
Will spark jump a gap of 7/16" on both ???----------------Do a compression test as well -------------If those are good then you start looking at fuel issues.-----------Has motor sat for a long time ???
 
you might want to pull the flywheel again check the timming hub its located in the center of the flywheel its a belt of magnet with a stainless collar, they can from glued with expoxy. your motor had various cooling problems this caused the epoxy to fail allowing the hub to slip as a result my shop was replacing 2or3 powerheads a week under warrenty. most of these engines failed very quickly because they where pre rigged on allumium boats the rivets on the hull caused excessive cavation the water pump had 3 ears instead of 5 this only furthered the problem the block traped air on top of the water jacket side plate the older motors over board indacator /pee tube/ was located on the top of the block this alowed the traped air to excape. yours is down low on the side plate. johrude packaged a water pump kit with everything you need the thermostat cover poppet spring and theromstat 5 ear pump and where to drill and tap to relocate the pee tube. when these updates were done no further problems happy customers. symptons if compression ignition and fuel have been varifyed and the motor dosent respond to normal adjustments hard to start wont idle your hub has probley slipped. sadley jonrude offered no way to verify propper alignment .comparing to a known to be good on is one way the latter engines came with a white or purple index mark this pin mark should align with a small notch on the hub collar. good luck from need to know
