1994 Evinrude 50 HP Issues

I'm a newbie, and I have an issue.

First off, it's a 94 VRO 50 hp. At least it was VRO til it burned up on my grandpa (oil pump lost prime, no buzzer) locked up solid, so he had it professionally rebuilt, new pistons, rings, etc...Fuel pump to run pre-mix 50:1. This was last spring, then he gave it to me and I put approx 30 hours on it and on the last trip I started having issues.

The motor won't run wide open, even to get on plane. It starts 'Starving' for fuel it seems, as when I discovered it, I changed fuel tanks, and lines (had extra's with) and no change. However when I pushed thhe key in (primed it) it would clear up aand run fine. Well that tellls me it's a fuel flow issue. So I fogged it last fall and started trying to figure it out this spring. To date I have, cleaned carbs twice, cleaned fuel pickups in tanks, new fuel lines and clamps in the motor, re-built the fuel pump, and put new spark plugs in it. It still has issues and I'm at a lose...Anyone have any other info???? Thanks!

PS...I'm wondering if it's some sort of ignition/high speed coil? issue if there is one?

Since the fuel pump is good, I know that. Where do I find the HS jets, just to be sure I'm doing the right thing. Also, should I just bend the floats up a bit too? If so, how much? I looked at the reeds, they looked fine. I'm an avid snowmobiler so I know about reed valves and such, but these carbs are different, so want to know what exactly I'm looking at/for. THanks!!!!

on the front of the carb there

on the front of the carb there is a 7/16 bolt with a slot for a screwdriver. remove the bolt and inside is the high speed orifice plug. you need a screwdriver to remove the plug. I just filed one down so that it would fit in the 1/4" hole. Remove the jet and clean it well. When you rebuild the carbs be sure to remove the knock-outs with a small drill bit and an awl and clean the area really well. I'd have to get my mannual out but and it is not at the house...but if I remember when you hold the carb the right way the float should drop about 3/4 of an inch...if not adjust the tab. when you turn it upside down the float should be level to slightly higher (oppisite to the pin) if not adjust the "Arm"

Hello again guys. I still haven't had time to work on the boat. Was wondering if anyone had any last minute tips as I will be working on it the morning of the 4th. Hopefully I can get it going. Thanks!!!!
 
Don't start bending floats

Don't start bending floats in a hope that you will " get it right " just leave them as they are.Clean the high speed jets.Operating the primer bypasses the carburetors. The trick is to get rid of the blockage.Do not run the motor untill you find / cure the problem.

"Ok. I didn't plan on running the motor, I have idled it around and tried to run it though, but just short bursts...How else can you tell if the problem is fixed unless you run it. I never knew the location of the main jets, these carbs are very different then the ones on sleds which I'm used to working on. I'll work on it Friday morning with hopes of having it ready for the fireworks friday night! Thanks!!!"

"Guys thank you so much for your help! I had no idea the main jet was located there, completley different then any sled I've worked on. Main jet on bottom cylinder was clogged, free'd it up and it ran great all weekend! Put some serious hours on it!!!
