1994 88hp Johnson

"I'm in the process of exchanging my 1994 88hp power head with a rebuilt 1989 110hp power head I was told all the wiring will work and it appears to be correct, however I was told that the carbs will work, however I may lack some performance, I'm Ok with that is this true?"

"Not certain about the year change as the part numbers are not the same but the difference between HP are the jets, same barrels (85 hp through 115 HP are the same block)
so 88hp on a 110 block will make it a 88hp"

As Cliff says, it should work. There may be differences in porting and in the exhaust that would make it perform differently. I would check the plugs every couple hours for awhile to make sure they are progressing toward a medium chocolate brown. If any of these changes cause the mixture to lean out you'll have a better chance of catching it before the new powerhead comes un-glued.
