1994 85 hp yamaha No spark?

It ran fine last trip towed it back to the house unloaded and washed her,went to flush the motor cranks but won't start fuel good,checked for spark and no spark.Anybody got an idea where to start looking and what to check for?Thanks

Knowing Yamaha ignitions systems, which are pretty bullet proof. I would say it could be a problem in the engine harness. Especially that it was so sudden. Here is something to try, although unless you know what you are doing could be hazardous. Disconnect the big black connector under the cowling. Ensure throttle is all the way down into idle position and jump the solenoid. If it is the boat portion of the harness it will start or at least try to when you jump the solenoid. If not it could be a fault on the engine side of the harness. I have never seen a Yamaha ignition fail that suddenly. Here is a cheeky but simple question though....does it have a kill laynard and is it in place? I work on outboards for a living and have missed that once or twice in 25 years.
