1994 40 HP hard start after it sits.

I have a 1994 40 HP 2 stroke 4 cylinder. I haven't had it started in 2 months. I was going to go out the next day so I thought I'd start it before I got to the water.
Turn the key on, pump the bulb, prime as usual, crank it and it does not start. I have fuel in the carb bowls and the primer was working. I then gave it a small shot of starting fluid and it runs until that is burnt. I did that a 3 times, I then squirted some raw gas in the carbs and it starts but dies as soon as it burns the gas. ( The fuel in the see through filter looks and feels very oily,)
I then pulled the 1/8" prime supply line from the bottom of the top carb to drain the bowl. I then took the fuel line off the bottom of the fuel pump and pressed the bulb until I got clear gas, reconnected the lines and the motor starts up and runs off the carbs.
It acts like the fuel / oil mix that is in the carbs is to oily to even give me the first clue of it firing. ?
The thing that puzzles me is, the fuel / oil mix that won't burn after it sits for 2 months was the very fuel that was in the carbs when I last pulled up to the dock and it ran perfect.
What is happening to the fuel in the carbs during the 2 months it sits?
Also I give the fuel the proper amount of stabil at fill up. JC

You're doing this to yourself by violating Fastjeff Rule # 1. To wit: Always run the motor dry after using it. Especially with the advent of ethanol gas.

When it gets to be a habit (like checking for water flow at start up) your problem will disappear. Just pull the quick connect and let the motor burn up all the gas in the carbs.

So if I pull the quick disconnect and let it run on the fuel that is left in the carbs it wont pump pure 2 cycle oil up the line, because the oil pump is after the quick disconnect. Thanks JC
