I have a 225 merc carb engine . Recently between 3-4 thousand rpm. And especially when hitting a wave the engines rpms lower and then pickup again.. I have replaced water seperator and fuel filter and entire line from fuel tank to engine. this seems to happen the last 1/4 tank. I have removed the fuel level gauge and looked into tank and don't see any debris in tank such as rust or corosion. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.. jc,:)

sounds as though you are sucking something against the pickup on the tank. try to run the boat on a test tank ( seperate 6 gallon portable tank and see if the problem clears up, if so then you know the boat tank is your culprit

if you are hitting waves and getting an immediate reaction, i would focus more on your carb floats first. too high of a setting can cause this.....or a ..."heavy" ,(or saturated") float could cause this. myself, i would replace the floats and make sure the float level is set correctly. secondly, make sure the float "drop".....is also set. many people overlook this. even when the float level is set correct. this is a good place to start with what you are describing. having a problem in the tank will not be immediate as hitting a wave, as there will still be plenty of fuel in the line to keep the engine running.
