Help please. Completely rebuilt pcm ford 5.8. (Due to overheating issue). Engine runs perfectly on garden hose connected to the transmission cooler outlet. Put the boat in the water and it overheats. New impeller in the fresh water pump. No water leaks on hose or clamps. Concerned that I may be sucking air in to the suction side of the pump between the inlet in the bottom of the hull and the pump somewhere. Does this logic make any sense? Also concerned T-stat may not be opening but exhaust manifolds are hot as well as the raw water pump. The transmission cooler is clear.

TIA for your responses.

Hey, do you have the service and parts manual for this engine? I have the same engine carbureted and can't seem to find how to get parts for it anywhere?!? As for your overheating issue, could be your impeller maybe installed backwards? or thermostat? follow that line to the impeller I'm guessing. Can you email me the service manual if so to mcg9603 at gmail
