1993 johnson 175 carbs leaking no more engine runs good

Finally got parts -rebuilt all carbs- replaced throttle body gaskets- intake gaskets- reed leafs on #5 and#3 cylinder torqued to proper specs etc. engine runs great no spitting out carbs -Just wanted to let you guys know how much you helped me------ tremendously!.Special thanks to -Daselbee---Fastbullet---and joereeves-you guys know your motors well Thanks again.-Now I have a new problem ---the vro -can it pump gas and not pump oil-because the gas works great but the oil isn't pumping ,should I replace the pulse limiter?Not a clue on this one . I know how to bypass the oil pump but I would really like to figure out why it dosent work-Any thoughts
 
Yes....the VRO can pump gas and not oil if the oil side diaphram is bad or if the oil screen in the remote oil tank is clogged. I assume you have check the oil lines for air leaks? You can buy a repair kit and replace all the diaphrams...super easy. Repair kit is around $150.00 I rebuilt mine last year. If you know the oil side is bad....do not run the motor unless you premix. IMHO I would rebuild or replace the VRO...others will say premix...VRO is super simple.
 
thanks that is what Ill do. Its been driving me nuts I've been mixing oil into gas at 25to1-for breakin so all is good and when I took off the oil hose at the VRO I got no suction at all ,hopfully a rebuild will fix problem. One other question -does the rebuild kit include entire pump----- fuel and oil? I would assume that it does
 
There are no parts available to repair the oil side.-------There is very little that can go wrong with the piston that pumps the oil.
 
You cannot rebuild the oil side of the pump nobody makes a kit for that, fuel side only.. How do you know it's not pumping? Was it properly primed when you hooked it up? Do this disconnect the oil line from the pump and pump about 16 oz of oil out of the line. Now hook up your premix gas and start the motor with the oil line disconnected and wait for the no flow beep to start. When the beeping starts push the oil line on and wait for the beeping to stop. Do NOT pump the primer bulb on the oil line when you do this. When the beeping stops clamp the line tight with an oetiker clamp or similar. If the alarm does not go off then the sensor is bad in that case the whole VRO pump needs to be replaced to have a working oil side. That procedure is straight from the OMC books.
 
I bled the air from oil line and cleaned the oil tank and filter it was not dirty or clogged also the oil warning signal comes and goes puzzling . I have marked the oil tank with sharpie and it is not using a drop. If the motor is running and you disconnect the oil line from the vro-and put your finger over the inlet there is no suction shouldn't there be some even if its super light?
