1993 Johnson 15 HP runningstarting problem

"I have a J15RETB,Johnson 15 hp(1993)that will run for awhile low and high end,then stop. You need to choke it to get it started everytime after that. If you can get it to start again it won't stay running. A friend has put new plugs in,cleaned carb,adjusted lean/rich settings but still have problem. Could this be a coil problem thats breaking down after running for awhile? We trolled for probably 1 hour the other day and it worked fine,then we went to another lake,it started,but no sooner than we started trolling it quit and couldn't get it to run after that.
Anyone have any ideas?

"take a timing light with you.......dont go too far out and wehn she wont restart hook up a timing light and see if shes still got fire

it almost sounds like an overheat if your for certain the carbs are clean...it doesnt take much to stop up those little jets and orifices.

i dont soak them unless they have been sitting for a while and not runnin......if it has plastic carbs dont soak them at all

by the way how is your pee stream?

do you use flushers or a tank when you work on it in the driveway?"
