1993 crusader 454 serial number 90526 timing

My starboard engine is trapped out at 2200 rpm it’s my understanding that the module in the distributer is bad so I have a new one to replace it, I need to know the procedure to do that so I don’t fry the new one. Some about flipping the connector over or unplugging something to set the timing then plugging it back in ? Need help with this

FWIW, that has to be the worst way to time an EST. They're virtually impossible to time at idle. I generally time mine at 1200-1500, and check timing at 4k for full advance.
