1993 9.9 hp merc flywheel

When removing the flywheel, do you have to use the 3 bolts in the holes along with a puller or can you just use a puller and torque it down till it pops? Also if you use the bolts in the holes, is there a certain position the flywheel has to be in to screw the bolts in?

On this model (and I own 2 of them, plus the 15 horse version), I simply use a steering wheel puller (2 bolt version) - torque it down and then hit it a tap with a deadblow hammer - that usually lets the flywheel "pop" right off
