I recently bought a used 1993 75 hp mercury for my 84 Skeeter, I am having trouble figuring out all the wiring. Can anyone give me a wiring schematic for it. My old outboard was an old 76 chrysler that I was finding it hard to find parts for. I am trying to figure out how to wire up the tilt/trim and the mercury has tilt/trim on the throttle control and the chrysler was controlled by switches on the dash and other places on the boat. Also I cant figure out where the battery cables connect to the engine, there are several solenoids on the side by the starter and I noticed two of the solenoids had the nuts removed by the previous owner on the right side posts, but not sure which one to connect the positive cable to and where the neg connects to. Dont want to connect backwards are burn something up. The last issue is all the wires that come from the main control cable, the wire colors don't seem to match up.If I need to I can post pics.Thanks.

The Merc motor still has the old 3 wire tilt pump in it? If so than the neg. connects anywhere on the block. Large blue and green from the pump go on the left side and both right posts have a large red going to the starter relay. The small post blue and green go to the switches in the dash. Put power to the switch with the red wire.

Thanks for the help, actually my bro-in-law came over and helped me figure that out last night. I think the tilt/trim pump motor is bad because we got it all connected that way and can here the solenoids clicking but the motor is not running. What would be the best way to determine if the motor is bad?

Mine doesn't have the relays it uses solenoids, there are 3 solenoids, one for the starter and two above it all linked together on one side with a red cable. When we push the trim button up we can here the one solenoid click but the down solenoid I think is bad, but the trim motor doesn't run up or down.

Mine doesn't have the relays it uses solenoids,
Semantics...same thing. That makes it easier to test the motor. CAREFULLY jump the big studs on one solenoid together to see if the pump motor runs. If it doesn't then the motor needs rebuilt or replaced...brushes are probably worn down. Replace both pump solenoids at the same time.

Hey thanks for all your help. Can the pump motor be removed just by lifting the engine all the way up, or will I have to remove the mounting bracket from the engine?
