1993 48 SPL tilt and trim seal replacement kit?

I have searched and searched and cannot find a seal kit for this motor. It is a model E48ESLETE. I called a couple of dealers and they both told me I would have to buy the entire ram assembly for it. I just have a hard time believing I cannot find a seal kit to fix this thing rather than spending $500.00 for a new ram. Anybody know?

If you can get the gland nuts lose, you can replace the O-rings in the gland nuts at your local hardware store. I have done this on a customers Volvo Penta trim unit that was considered "not rebuild-able". It has been working fine for the last five years.
You have to inspect the rams for rust pits. They will look like little black dots. If there are any, replace the whole unit with a good used one.

Sorry you are about 2000 miles away.-----------------------Best to look for a used cylinder assembly.-----------Knowing the history of the 2 cylinder 40 / 45 / 50 Hp there should be lots around at local shops.

to replace the interior seal you will have to cut the nuckle and reweld. by the way seals can be found but you need to save the old ones to identify replacement at your parts house.that unit can be a little tricky to remove best if you leave on motor all you have to do is cut upper nuckle motor will then tilt out of way so the ram can be removed
