1993 40 HP will not idle. Run if you hold throttle open .

this is too open of a question, spark check, compression test all cyl's, then remove and clean the carbs if all else checks good. Basic troubleshooting before spending money. Is the gas old, did it sit for more than a month, is this the first time you had it out, we need more info, but do the above test.
