I put a complete water pump kit in last year and it ran great all year. When I put it in the water this year it was pumping when I started it but then the stream slowed and the motor overheated as I was idling over to my dock. I put another new impeller in, there was 1/4” chunk missing from one of the blades and a little wear but I have seen much worse still pump water. I took the t stat out and flushed water with the lower unit off and it seemed to flow fine. It pumps a little now, not as much as it used to, runs ok on plane but overheats when idling. I am thinking that piece of rubber is wedged somewhere restricting flow, any thoughts? I am guessing my only option at this point is to pull the heads off….
