1993 150 hp faststrike overheating problem

i have a 1993 150 faststrike. was out all day with no problems at all. ran throw low water it sounded the overheat alarm. i blew throw exit port for water on the back of motor. didnt help. when returned home i flushed with garden hose. i put the ears on it and ran motor. had good water stream spraying out. within 4 min of running the overheat alarm went off agian. any help?
