1993 15 hp evinrude water pump

Have 1993 15 hp Evinrude and just put new impeller on it. Would not pump water. Took off lower unit and put it in a Barrell and put a drill on shaft and water came
out of hose I had in the rubber boot. Ran water with pressure through bottom tube and water comes out rubber hose with good stream. Took out thermostat and blew air through bottom tube and it is clear. Was pumping water before, I just wanted to put new impeller in it. Put engine in barrel and filled water 8 in over pump. Still not pumping. Anyone had this problem before.

Put old impeller case back on and it pumps now. Wont buy ebay anymore. Thx

About 50 years ago I installed an after market impeller in a 2 HP Johnson.----Would not pump at idle.-----Cheap lesson.----I know of a dealer that offered a " special " deal with cheaper impellers.----Had to send a crew out to the marina to pull a boat and install factory impellers on 2 drives.----Nothing but factory impellers for me.
