I have a 1992 Mercury 115 hp 4 cyl. and my tachometer isn't working. I've read that a bad rectifier can cause that issue. I have tried to locate the rectifier but can't find it. All that I can find is the terminal block. I'm not sure if my motor even has a rectifier. I have searched the net and see sites that call the terminal block a rectifier assembly. I seen the parts diagram for a three cyl. 90 hp and it didn't have a rectifier as far s I could tell. Does my motor have a rectifier or dose it use a terminal block? My terminal block has 3 yellow wires one on the top post and on the bottom post. There are 2 gray wires going to the middle post that says tach.

Thank you, I ordered one today off E bay. It will be here on Saturday I hope, $45.00 new. The numbers on the one on my motor are 815279-3. Mine looks burnt on the top where the wires come out 2 red and 2 yellow with 1 gray and 1 black ground wire. I also ordered a new terminal block as mine is rusted and dark looking. I hope that all of this works because my plans are to go to Kentucky lake on the 12th of this month. Thanks again, I will let you know how it all comes out after I get back together.
PS. there is a black wire on the back of my tach. It comes from a little black rectangular box. It is just hanging down I assume is a ground wire but not sure. I know what it means to assume an that would be e according to my wife. My boat is a 1993 Pro craft 170-b bass boat. If you have a clue as to what it is let me know.
Can't wait to get on the water.
