1992 Johnson 8HP LONG SHAFT?

just uncovered the boat after two months to find oil dripping from this area down the motor. It was stored in down/operating position. My gear oil is dark blue. This is tan, no blue. Could it be risidual from the exhausted gases. Well, I couldn't figure out how to post my picture. Any help there will be appreciated. I'll get back to you all. Steve

Residual unburned mix from the exhaust is just what it is (learned this myself recently after posting the same question about that cream color goo coming out of my 76 9.9hp) and nothing to worry about, except maybe check the air/mix ratio adjustment, as in my case, it was the result of running too rich.
But my "leakage" was excessive, way more than what you are showing us here.

Thank you. Was concerned about a lower unit leaking but couldn't explain the tan colored oil. Makes sense. Thank you. Steve, Plymouth, MA
