Please help. When putting the boat (pontoon) in this early spring for the first time ever it was a tough start. The alarm would come on briefly but I was able to get it started with allot of prime and open throttle. I limped to my lake home but it ran as if it was only hitting on one cylinder. I changed the plugs but it still has the same symptoms. Where do I start?

If you have spark (with the plugs out) that will jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP, and you also have proper compression. The most common cause is fouled carburetors due to sitting.

Compression test.------Then look for good spark.--------Does spark jump a gap of 7/16" ( 1 cm ) with a snap you can hear, yes or no ?

Thank you all for your input. I checked spark and looked good in both cyl. Since it starts fairly well, I put some sea foam in gas and sprayed some carb cleaner in both. I let it set for a while and took it out and I think I cleared the carbs. I will try it a gain today.

When I first put it in the alarm (same one that goes off when you turn ignition) goes on and stays on. I have good water flow from rear of motor. I am thinking it is a faulty alarm. What do you think? What is the best way to disable?
