Have on going problem with motor shutting down at high rpm. Motor will restart in most cases from 5 - 15minutes. This is random problem sometimes it will run all day no issue and then it will just start acting up.
Mechanic replaced all fuel systems and ignition. Still having problem and mechanic says that power pack needs to be replaced. Anyone have any other ideas before I drop $ on power pack?

Remove the Black/Yellow wire (kill circuit) from the ignition switch "M" terminal. If this solves the problem, the ignition switch has an intermittent short, in which case replace it.

Note that with this wire disconnected, it will be impossible to shut the engine down via the ignition switch.

Ask you mechanic if he will install a new powerpack on a temporary basis....no charge unless it cures your problem, reinstall your old one if it doesn't. If he's not sure, you're paying for what... guess work?

power pack is in the 100 buck range..stator is in the 300 range....plus labor on each...a spare power pack is not a bad item to carry as a spare but a spare stator is useless in the boat...unless you wish to carry all the tools needed to swap it out...before i did either i would closely inspect the small connector coming from the timer base for a good connection and no backed out pins...those connectors will back out (usually have been that way since day one) and make connection with the head of the pin..they may run that way for years and become intermittent...

When I service these engines for this kind of issue, I change everything at one time. Power pack, stator, timing base and optical sensor if it's an OIS engine . CDI sells a kit that contains all the parts at a cheaper price.

Intermittent ignition loss is difficult to diagnose with out a little guess work.

I would go with the PPack replacement since engine is shutting down when hot and re-firing when cooled.
