1992 Force/Mercury 150 Water Temp

Hello!

Well, I'm new to boating and today I purchased a great 1979 Stamas 21'6 Cabin with a 1992 Force 150 and dual battery setup. It's a great boat in great shape, but it just needs a little work. I picked it up for less than $1,500 because the guy didn't have a trailer (Luckily I had!) and most of the electronics don't work {fish finder, lights, bildge, etc) due to bad wiring.

Anyways, I've got a few questions about the boat. First, there is no water temp gauge on the dash... all that I have is Volt, Pressure (Not sure if oil or water, doesnt work), tach and fuel (doesnt work). I'm planning on replacing all of the gauges, but I'm not sure where the temp sender is. I kinda feel like temp is important along with fuel and tach. DOes anyone have any guides or advise as far as installing a temp gauge on this motor?

Second, as far as wiring goes I also have a speedo sending unit down at the back of the boat, however there is no speed gauge. It looks fairly new, but I have not looked to see where it's hooked up yet. Is there a special kind of gauge I need for this or wiring harness?

Third, The motor cranks really well and fires right up, however when it's cold it will run for about 5-7 seconds, then it'll die. It'll start/die twice, then it'll idle fine and run great when warm. Is there a choke or something that I'm not doing? I have a US Marine throttle that doesn't seem to let you increase throttle, unless your in gear (Or am I doing this wrong?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Most control boxes have a feature where you can disengage the shift function.-----Then it operates with throttle only for warm-up.----Time to get a manual / ask how to do this.-----Posting picture of your control will help.

Here is a picture of the throttle assembly I have. The other thing is the key area is broken off... does anyone by chance know of where I could replace the key switch itself? Or should I just by pass it with an aftermarket one from Autozone?
