1992 EVINRUDE 60 jumps out of drive

going along at a steady speed, and it feels like it goes into neutral. I put the shifter in neutral and back down into drive, and it works. I took the lower end apart and inspected the gears and everything looked ok.

Does it bang out of gear? Or do the RPMs suddenly shoot up? Have you tried a different prop?

I don't remember a bang, but the RPMs go up. No on changing the prop.

Try another prop.----Sounds like the rubber drive hub is slipping.-----Mark the prop / hub and test run.----See if marks are still lined up.
