1992 70 hp johnson

I was wondering where to disconnect the shift linkage to lower my lower unit to examine my water pump? Curt

There is a hitch pin on the bellcrank ( starboard side under carburetors )----------remove hitch pin with needle nose pliers.----Then push bellcrank to the port side and the shift rod disconnects.

Thanks for the quick response racerone, not real sure what a bell crank is, but at least i know where to look for the shift disconnect. I'm rebuilding my carbs right now, and since i have them off it should be easier to see what your talking about. Just a note, should i remove the starter and horn that is there to make it easier to get at? Thanks Curt

Just look for the hitch pin on the L shaped lever that goes across under the carburetors.------------------When you get it all apart --DO NOT TURN THE SHIFT ROD !
