Hi- I'm new to this website. Looks like a lot of good info here. I want to change the impeller on my 1992 40 4cyl. It has 3 bolts (1 under trim tab) which I loosened. Does the shift linkage just drop out, because I dont see a jam nut-long nut anywhere on the shaft. The shaft does not move up and down when shifted in and out of gear, it just seems to rotate a little. I pulled the 3 nuts and tried to wiggle the lower unit but it wont budge. I tried hitting it with a heavy hammer but it still doesnt move. I'm afraid of cracking the case if I get to rough with it. Thanks for any tips.
