1992 140hp (model J140txe) timing

Does anyone know what the timing for this particular motor should be? I am actually trying to help out a neighbor in distress! thanks!

ok so I just saw that its more of "pick-up" timing. is this pretty involved?

Not reallly ----Pick up timing is where the throttle starts to open up.------------Timing on an outboard like that is set at the factory and normally needs no adjusting for the life off the motor.----What are the issues that lead one to suspect that timing is " wrong " on it ???

well again this is coming from my neighbor, but it "bogs" down when the motor warms up...

That likely is NOT a timing problem.--------------First is to check compression.-----Then check if there is good strong spark on each cylinder that can jump a gap of 7/16" on all 4.------------Perhaps have someone operate the manual fuel pump and see if that gets rid of the bogging.
