I am in the process of rebuild

I am in the process of rebuilding the carbs.I have noticed that the idle orifices currently on the carbs are different from those specified in my parts manual.Currently there is #30 on the port side and #25 on the starboard side. The manual calls for #34 on the port side and #37 on the starboard side. 1)Should I change these back to spec? 2)Why would they be different from spec to begin with? 3)Should I replace all the idle and intermediate orifices during the rebuild?THANKS

"Dan,

The manual shows the orifice that the carbs originally had. These can be changed in order to fine tune the idle. The orifices that you have would cause the idle mixture to be a bit richer. If the engine runs well I would leave them as they are. Rebuilders usually recommend a richer mixture than do manufacturers. Manufacturers are interested in lower emmissions; rebuilders are worried about engine wear.
