"Hi, Great website! My 115 overheat buzzer goes off after about a mile or two of running motor at high speed. I quickly shut down the motor and wait, usually less than a minute and then start up the engine and run it again. Same thing happens again after traveling a mile or two. I just had the impeller replaced by a marine mechanic less than 6 months ago."

"Is the motor actually hot??? Could be a faulty sensor. When the impeller was replaced was it because of overheat??? , if so did anyone check compression / replace head gaskets / torque the cylinder heads??"

"No, the motor is not hot and the buzzer was not going off prior to having the impeller changed. The mechanic told me that the compression was good. I purchased the boat a little over a year ago and just wanted to do some preventive maintenance. I should mention that I did have to take it back the mechanic right after I got it back the first time. The water restrictor plate was too small. Not enough water was flowing through the engine. I took it down to the Keys right after that and it ran fine. The next time I took it out, 2 months later, is when my trouble began. Hope this helps."

I had a similar problem that was corrected by removing the cover plates on the heads and cleaning them and the water passages on the heads of the buildup of salt or other gook. aparantly YAMAHAS are very sensitive to a good water flow and must be cleaned periodically.
