"Hi guys, I think I got a little bit of an electrical problem on one of my engines. The engine stutters a little and is a bit shaky even under load. Still runs reasonably well, but I am sure there is more performance there. I don't think it is fuel related as I went through the system. That is why I think it is electrical.

Being that I am not familiar with the electrical components, I was wondering what is the most likely thing to go wrong that can cause this type of performance. I have already changed the plugs but nothing else. I was getting ready to start trouble shooting using parts from my good engine, but that seems like a lot of work. Any ideas?"

Anyone have an idea of what to check? What are the most common electrical issues with these engines?

"Most problems are fuel related, plugged carbs from sitting.
You can do some spark checking with a timing light while running the engine. Simply move the timing light from on cyl to another while looking at the flash of the gun. No flash=no spark.
Caution, if it has carbs and one is plugged that cyl is not getting fuel/oil, bad...."
